The Listening Project

The Listening Project is an online counselling offering. It follows an integrative and holistic approach, which brings together both therapeutic intervention and positive psychology perspectives to counselling. This approach provides not only for assistance during life’s challenges, but also for coaching and support during growth phases of personal development.

Special areas of interest:

  • Pastors and ministers in church leadership
  • Marriage and couple counselling
  • Spiritual Direction
  • Trauma
  • Individual life coaching

Pastors and ministers

I have a particular passion to serve those in full-time or part-time ministry as they navigate the spiritual, psychological and social issues of their own lives and of those in their care. The calling to serve in ministry can be both wonderful and daunting, and the reality is that it is often a very isolated, burdened and misunderstood space. Ministers are not immune to the many challenges we all face, and they require the exact same pastoral care that they provide to their congregations.

If you’re in ministry and would like a safe space to offload, process or just take a deep breath, please contact me to book a session.

Marriages and couples

Your relationship with your partner is one of the most significant of your whole life. Investing in it through enrichment or dealing with  challenges can only bring great benefit to both partners!

I can provide either one-on-one or group sessions to look at any of the following or more:

  • Relationship enrichment
  • Pre-marital counselling
  • Conflict resolution
  • Interventions

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is “help given by one Christian to another which enables that person to pay attention to God’s personal communication to him or her, to respond to this personally communicating God, to grow in intimacy with this God, and to live out the consequences of the relationship.” (Barry and Connolly, The Practice of Spiritual Direction)

The focus of a session is often around the person’s prayer life as well as unpacking their current emotions, experiences and expectations in relationship with God. Sometimes just sharing the challenges and celebrations of life with God with another person helps. There is also space for sharing of doubts, confusion or questions.

We experience trauma in many diverse ways, and, equally, we respond in diverse ways. Dealing with the trauma in a way that provides healing, integration and opportunities to move forward is vital for healthy and whole people.

No matter the trauma, counselling can be vital in helping an individual, family or group face the tragedy and move forward positively.

Individual Life Coaching

These sessions are focused on assisting individuals in the following areas:

  • Personal goals and strategy
  • Changing direction or new phases of life
  • Facing personal challenges
  • Addressing unhelpful patterns of thinking, behaviour or communication.

The Neethling Brain Instruments® can also be included as a helpful psychometric tool to assist in awareness and strategic direction for the individual.
