Today is the day of death.
Sure, it cradles the potential of life,
But we must face the death first –
Without blinking or shying away.
To skip too quickly to the resurrection
Is to trivialise the death.
Today is mourning,
Today is tears,
Today we are undone by the crushing grief,
The unrelenting sorrow.
Today is darkness,
Today the sun hides it’s face,
Today is pitiless and scornful hopelessness.
Today attempts to string together it’s hours unending.
Night is upon us,
And, yet, it will not be summoned.
